Gratitude, Referrals and a Busy Season Ahead
This month we spotlight Rapid Fire Plumbing, share fall tips for West Valley homes and businesses, and look at what is happening across BNI Arizona.
November is a month for gratitude, and BNI is built on it. Givers Gain® is really just gratitude in action: we help each other first and trust that it comes back. As the weather finally cools and the holidays get closer, it is a great time to thank the people who have sent business your way this year, and to make a plan to finish the year strong.
Member spotlight
Rapid Fire Plumbing
This month we are shining the spotlight on Tom Adkins of Rapid Fire Plumbing, LLC, who holds the plumbing seat in our chapter and also serves as our Education Coordinator. Each week Tom helps the room sharpen its networking skills with a short education segment.
Plumbing problems never pick a convenient time, and November is a big month for them. Holiday guests, extra cooking and the first cold mornings put real strain on water heaters, drains and garbage disposals. Great referrals for Tom include:
- Homeowners getting ready to host family for Thanksgiving or the holidays
- Anyone whose water heater is getting older or running out of hot water
- Neighbors dealing with slow drains, leaks or running toilets
- Real estate agents and property managers who need a plumber they can trust

Seasonal tips for the West Valley
At home
- Check your heat before you need it. Run your heater or heat pump on the first cool evening. A dusty smell for a few minutes is normal, but strange noises or no heat means it is time for a checkup.
- Go easy on the drains. Keep cooking grease, potato peels and turkey scraps out of the garbage disposal on Thanksgiving.
- Change your air filter. Fall dust and holiday cooking both load up filters.
- Look up. Before the winter rains, have your roof looked at for loose tiles or damaged flashing from the monsoon season.
For your business
- Plan for Small Business Saturday on November 28. Let your network know what you are offering.
- Do a year-end check-in. Meet with your accountant and your insurance agent before December gets busy.
- Thank your referral partners. A handwritten card or a coffee goes a long way.
Networking tip of the month: say thank you out loud
The fastest way to get more referrals is to celebrate the ones you already received. When someone in the chapter sends you business, thank them in the meeting and tell the room what came of it. It shows the system is working, it encourages the person who referred you, and it reminds everyone else what a good referral for you looks like.

BNI Global's latest article makes a point every member can use: when you try to explain everything you do, listeners walk away with a blur. When you tell one clear story about one client you helped, people remember it and know exactly who to send you. Try it in your next weekly presentation.
